How to schedule social media posts with ChatGPT

A scheduling request should answer three questions: what will be published, where it will go and exactly when. With Influence connected to ChatGPT, you can prepare the post in conversation and approve its schedule. Influence saves the job and runs delivery at the agreed time.

1. Specify the date and time zone

Use a calendar date, a clock time and a named time zone, such as Europe/London or Asia/Bangkok. “Tomorrow morning” leaves room for misunderstanding, especially when your team spans time zones. If a local time occurs twice or does not exist during a daylight-saving change, clarify the intended time before proceeding.

2. Prepare the post before scheduling

Connect your accounts using the ChatGPT connection guide. Influence requests optional access renewal alongside the tool permissions you choose. After entering the MCP URL for a new custom connection, open “Advanced OAuth settings”, set “Base scopes” to offline_access and keep the discovered DCR and default permissions. Create the connection, then sign in to Influence through OAuth, review the permissions and select “Stay connected for up to 30 days” to allow renewal. Without this permission, access lasts five minutes and does not renew automatically. Then select “Allow access”. Tell ChatGPT which account to use and save the text as a draft. Check each destination’s wording and required settings. When a destination is required, ask ChatGPT to list the available boards, channels or communities, then choose from the returned options. If you use Influence IQ, create a plan first, then ask for revisions or image ideas for that saved plan. Generation and revisions use workspace credits. For an image post, choose a ready image from your Influence library and complete its visual review in Influence. If ChatGPT asks you to reconnect for a tool, review the requested permissions in Influence and allow only those you intend to use.

3. Approve the exact schedule

Ask for a scheduling review. Read the final text, accounts, settings, date, time and time zone together. For text posts, reply approved after the current review; for image posts, approve in Influence. A request to schedule is not itself approval. Complete any additional confirmation ChatGPT shows, then check that the saved status is scheduled.

4. Review changes before they take effect

Ask ChatGPT to reschedule a future post or return it to a draft, then review and approve that action. Changing a time or destination requires fresh approval. A post already sent, in flight or awaiting review of an uncertain send cannot be treated as an untouched draft. Changing a schedule does not delete a published social post.

5. Follow the result for each account

Scheduled means the job is saved for later; it does not guarantee that a social network has accepted the post. After the scheduled time, ask for the destination status and published link. Reconnect an account or resolve the reported problem when needed. If delivery is uncertain, check the existing result before sending another copy.

A prompt with an unambiguous schedule

Use Influence to prepare a post for my selected account on 15 October 2026 at 09:00 in Europe/London. Ask me which account to use. Save a draft first, then show the exact text, settings and scheduled time for my approval.

Questions about scheduling with ChatGPT

Can I change the time after approving?

You can request a change to an eligible future post. The assistant must show a new review for the change and obtain fresh approval. The previous approval does not cover a new time.

Can one prompt create an automatic recurring campaign?

This workflow handles individual posts and their destination versions. A weekly plan in a conversation does not create an approved recurring publishing rule. Prepare, review and approve the individual posts you want to schedule.
